In my last blog post I wrote about my adventures tracking down some "missing" hydrangeas I had seen at a local conservatory.
Here now are some of the raw materials and the creations inspired by this wonderful color palette. You can see here some of the wools, silks and oddments I felted in and three completed pieces..and one in the works; another time, another palette, I aim to also capture the laying down of the wools and such and the soapy hands in the midst of the wet felting process that help transform the materials into a new fabric!
In a lot of my projects I like to include bits from other projects that seem to add texture or contrast ..and so they get recycled into a new piece-and sometimes I add a new color out of the stash! Four pieces from this group are now listed in my shop.
I always look forward, too, to seeing works-in -progress and finished creations in the blogs and shops of others!

Oh Ginny, I would love seeing the works in progress with your soapy hands! Your felting is such a magical process and I love the color palette here!! Such soft blues and lilacs with that hint of sharp green! xoxo Cait
ReplyDeleteI too, just adore this color palette and have always been in love with hydrangeas. Can't wait to see how it all ends up!

I just love your colors Ginny. You should have seen the hydrangeas in Tuscany. Bright pink and blue on the same plant. White ones and red ones. Amazing. Bellisimo colours!
ReplyDeleteLoved the colors Ginny! Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers--so much variety all in one plant! I love how you have translated this into your work. Wonderful inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog as well. I had no idea that you also worked in paper & books or that you loved all things Italian! I bet you could make some extraordinary papers using hydrangeas as inspiration. I feel inspired. Thank you, Ginny!
